Scale has recently announced our partnership with Vision Solutions (Double-Take) to offer our customers a unique set of tools designed to answer a few key questions that users face when moving to a virtualized environment:

  1. How do I migrate my existing workloads to HC3?
  2. What Disaster Recovery strategy should I deploy for low Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and low Recovery Point Objective (RPO) workloads?

Migrating to HC3 using Scale Computing’s HC3 Move powered by Double-Take

Whether you are migrating physical servers (Physical-to-Virtual – P2V) or virtual servers (Virtual-to-Virtual – V2V), HC3 Move powered by Double-Take gives users the ability to migrate their existing Windows-based VMs to an HC3 VM with near-zero downtime. This tool migrates your entire server including the system state, application, file system, permissions, attributes, compression and encryption settings without suspending production operations. All system and application data is moved while the machine is live and online and HC3 Move powered by Double-Take ensures the write order integrity for all migrated data.

HC3 Move powered by Double-Take also offers great flexibility in the cutover to the migrated HC3 VM by allowing for a Test Cutover to proactively validate that the migration cutover worked as planned. Once comfortable, the validated cutover can be executed at your scheduled maintenance window manually or automatically.

Near-Zero Downtime Migrations

  • Captures all changes that users make during the migration and replicates them to the new server in real-time
  • Migrates the entire system or just file or application data for standard or custom file and application servers and even domain controllers

Simple, Flexible Configuration

  • Continuously captures byte-level changes to a server’s OS, applications and data
  • Updates DNS for migrations across network subnets to help users easily reconnect after cutover, even across a WAN
  • Migrate to physical or virtual servers that have a different number of drives, drive sizes, CPUs or memory than the original source
  • A simple interface lets you efficiently manage large migration projects
  • Cutover to the new server can be executed manually or set up to be fully automatic
  • For virtual server migrations, take advantage of the Test Cutover capabilities to proactively validate your migration cutover will work as planned

Disaster Recovery for Low RTO/RPO Workloads

For workloads that require a low RTO, HC3 Availability powered by Double-Take gives users immediate recovery from any system outage by continuously capturing changes as they happen and replicating those changes to one or more servers at any location, locally or globally. This provides near-zero data loss for full-server failover in minutes. This tool can also be used to backup virtual machines running in a non-HC3 environment (running on VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) to an HC3 system.

HC3 Double-Take Availability for Windows provides affordable data protection, fault tolerance and enables immediate recovery from any system outage at the push of a button. Continuous data replication over any distance means that you always have access to a current copy of your data, applications and operating system (OS).

HC3 Double-Take Availability monitors changes to all protected files and replicates only the bytes that change. Resource friendly technology allows you to replicate to any disaster recovery site, over standard IP networks, for maximum protection against data loss. Choose between application-level or full-server failover to configure an alternate system to take over for the production server in the event of an outage.
